Dear AGENT,

The above quote sets the scene for my novel FRAGILE LIES a psychological thriller about denial, revenge and fabricated lives. Elizabeth is desperate to prove that her childhood friend Michael, abducted twenty years ago, has returned and exacted revengeful murder or she will be blamed.

Set against the backdrop of ‘Metamoria’, a company that produces computer-generated imaginary lives for the dead or missing to help their grieving loved ones, Elizabeth struggles to come to terms with traumatic events of her own past. When Michael frames her for the murder, Elizabeth has to face the truth of what happened two decades back, a truth which bears no resemblance to her memories.

FRAGILE LIES is my first novel and it is approximately 78 thousand words. I am writing to you because you come across as a person with a great passion for what you do and as a published author you will empathize with what I am trying to achieve. Meaningful themes are very important to me although I keep the storyline accessible. I tried to write a story that people wouldn’t want to put down, one that would lead down dark and unexpected alleyways and would, once read, leave echoes in the mind.

I was a prize winner in a Sunday Times short story competition on the theme of ‘London’. I have had articles published in newspapers and magazines and have written a weekly column in a North West newspaper for nine months about my work in education and religion. I have taught in secondary schools for nearly twenty years during which time I have run Young Writers’ Workshops (The ‘Inklings’). I have had the support of an adult writers’ group to hone my own craft.

Born in Liverpool of Anglo-Irish parents, I retain a strong Scouse sense of humour and I am highly creative. I have a passion for storytelling and believe stories are at the heart of what it means to be human. I have an honours degree in Theology and a Black Belt in Kickboxing. I am married to Séan and we have two sons, Patrick and Tadhg.
